Brief history and properties 

For thousands of years, citrine has been used as decorative jewellery. In actuality, the stone was used as an ornamental jewel in Ancient Greece between 300 and 150 B.C. In addition, Scottish men covered their sword and dagger handles with citrine in the 17th century.

But there is also documentation of whole sword handles made of citrine. More recently, citrine enjoyed great appeal between World Wars I and II, during the Art Deco period. Movie stars of the period displayed huge, luxurious citrine jewellery.

Citrine is now largely utilised in designer jewellery items for its colour and clarity and is carved into a range of styles. The Ural Mountains of Russia, France, and Madagascar are among the other locations where natural citrine may be found. Brazil supplies the majority of the citrine used in modern jewellery. Darker colours, such as medium golden orange, are often seen as more rare and costly as a result.
